The Beverly Hilton... ooohhhhh

So, still here? Woah, my first post must have really been a cliff hanger! Let's get into the nitty gritty of my experience today.

This afternoon I helped my friend Kathy (who organizes celebrity gifting suits) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills (90210). Celebrity gifting suits work like this: Representatives from companies give away cool stuff to notable people in exchange for photos of the notable person with whatever item the representative is representing. The hope here is that a picture of this famous person wearing or using this item will make it into magazines and news articles thus prompting non- notable people to spend their money to obtain this item. The top money gift in our suite was an electric scooter that was worth like $360. Also, I saw Kate Hudson! She did not ask me for my number.

Afterwards I rushed over to the Friars Club to see a few of my friends become members... I was excited for them! That place has such a rich history and I feel very fortunate that I get to have some experiences there. After the event I got invited to play poker in the Frank Sinatra card room. Normally because of my current financial situation (dead broke) I would have just watched, but luckily after the event at the Beverly Hilton event, I saw 2 photographer guys walking down the street towards the taxi line and I offered to drive them for free to wherever they were going. They hopped in my 2001 Hyundai Elantra and to thank me for my offer, they each gave me 10 bucks! So, I slapped one of those $10 bills on the green felt table under a huge portrait of Sinatra and said "Deal me in." Epic moment for me. Totally lame moment for everyone else there.

I won my first hand and was able to stay at the table for about 30 mins with that ten bucks. I left with no money, but a great memory.

It is late now, but before I go to bed I want to work out a bit and read a play (Sideman by Warren Leight). So, I will do that now.

Till tomorrow (or whenever I have time to do this)

~Joe
