Shawn Mullins and Sag Bookpals

Woke up this morning with no way to hold my head up that didn't hurt. And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad, so I had one more for desert. Then I fumbled through my closet for some close and found my cleanest dirty shirt.

Ok ok... those are lyrics to a Shawn Mullins song that I love. Oh man, if you have not heard his "Soul's Core" album, you need to go off and buy it right away! I listened to that album for probably 20 hours of my road trip out to California from Illinois 2 years ago.

This morning I sent out some e-mails to people that I met up with in the past few days. It is important to keep any connections you make out here going. After that, I read to a combined 1st and 2nd grade class as a part of my volunteering for the SAG Bookpals program. I think the kids like me because I come in there with my guitar and let them act crazy. I do voices, hand puppets, let them get up and dance... etc. I basically act like a total fool. I really enjoy it. Today I went in with a chapter book "Dingos at dinnertime."

I also cleaned out my car (exciting!) and wrote a little stand up material.

I am still thinking of that play "Equus" that I read. It is so disturbing, why in the world would someone write that and why do so many people go crazy for it? Please e-mail me if you have that answer.

~ Joe
